Assembling the AMS 2 Kit
matthew edgarShare
When you get your package it will have 4 lower sections for the feeders and two small baggies.
One bag has our plastic parts (5 sets) and the other will have 4 screw sets.
MUST USE PLASTIC SAFE GEASE
The white grease Bambu Labs works the best!
MUST READ!
What you can do first is add a good amount of grease to the channel and place the wedge facing the arm of the lever. The angled side to the arm. Then use the OEM spring add grease then the pusher with the cup facing up and the circle facing down. Use the small screw to tighten the lid.
If you have problems with TPU take the 4 way hub spring out and cut 2 full circle coils from one side then install.
A. Power down
- Start the disassembly by removing any plastic rolls
- Unplug any power cords to the AMS 2
- Remove the PTFE tubing from the back
B. Removing the roller assembly
( Have a magnet dish as that will help a lot )
- Locate the two middle rollers at the back
- Unscrew the 2 screws from top down
- GENTLY pull the full dark grey roller assembly up and while doing so watch for the 2 wire connectors in the back
- GENTLY Unplug the wires in the back
C. Taking the Feeders off
- Start with the top side where the rollers go
- There is geared rollers that are press fitted into their homes. Push from the bottom on one side and they will pop out
- Next use the push tabs for the PTFE tubing to remove them from the feeders
- Once the PTFE tubing is undone from the feeder you can now flip to the other side
- Locate the 2 screws that hold the circuit board to the bottom of the AMS 2 and gently unscrew
- Then locate the Feeder unit pugs on each one and GENTLY but firmly unplug
- It can be your choice to undo all the wires if you are scared of breaking anything
- There will be 2 black screws for each feeder unit. Take each one out and DO NOT LOSE THEM
- Once taken out feed the Feeder wires through their holes and flip up the Feeder unit assembly. It should pop right out. DO NOT FORCE THINGS
D. Disassembling the Feeder Units
- Locate the 4 silver screws on the assembly. Take them off
- GENTLY undo the wires connected to the round circuit board
- GENTLY lift the clear section off from the bottom
- Now you will have 2 halfs
- We will be focusing on the bottom half
- Remove the worm motor it has 2 screws
- After that you should have an empty bottom section and now a new part that is clear that holds the led light and the OEM spring
E. Reassembly of the Feeder Unit
- Now take the Kit and start with the worm gear motor. When you have the motor in place put the LED in its spot like the original and place the small clear section on top to lock it in with the screws
- The whole reassembly is the same but for 1 thing. The black plastic bearings. The one that goes on the side that has the adjustment shaft goes on the inside and the one that is on the outside goes on the outside. It is a tight fit but it will be ok.
- After that throw in the screws that hold the top and snug. The OEM will strip and so will these.
- For the black screws make sure that the screw hole is free if not take a small nail and make the opening bigger and pre thread the screws in to make it easier to reinstall.
- When you go to reinstall, install the PTFE tubing first then thread the wires in and then the Feeder Unit with it tipped to allow the tab to go in easy.
- Do all 4 and assemble the same way you disassembled
If you have problems with the Geared Roller rubbing unscrew the part and move the roller to feel when its free.
